The Solo Expats Association is a non-profit organisation with an effective network, enabling us to not only look after the needs of foreign nationals, their relatives and friends who live in and around Solo but also to provide support and disaster relief to the local community when needed.

It was officially founded on the 7th of May 2007 as the Solo Expatriate Association in reaction to an issue with the local immigration office. Since then we have come a long way and have developed into an active social and community orientated association.

We are open to people of any nationality, including Indonesians, and have no restrictions on religion, politics or other grounds.

The Solo Expats Association holds monthly social gatherings, trips for members and their families and programs to assist and stimulate social life in Solo.

We concentrate on three main fields, social, charity and lobbying work :

  • Providing information and support to newcomers and long-time or regular visitors.
  • Exchanging information on all aspects of life in and around Solo.
  • Offering assistance in solving immigration issues.
  • Providing information about new laws and directives; especially those concerning foreigners.
  • Organizing social activities like badminton, bowling, quiz night, Easter brunch / egg hunt and white water rafting.
  • Organizing charity activities and participating in community activities like taking children from a local orphanage on outings; major flood relief work or relief for those affected by vulcanic eruptions.
  • We have an extensive free library for members with books and DVD’s.
  • Each first Thursday of the month the Executive Board comes together for their monthly meeting which is open to all members and a nice moment to meet many members and their partners.

Being member of the SEA entitles you to substantial discounts at various Hotels and Restaurant in Solo.

Other activities and services from organisations loosely connected with the SEA:

1st of every month from 19:00 o'clock @ Manir's Family Kitchen

What began as an activity of a group of women, most of them members of the SEA, quickly became a monthly social event. It draws a substantial crowd consisting of the participants of the Arisan, their husbands, children and friends. The surplus of the door price is a welcome monthly contribution to the SEA.
